Note to Prospective Students and Visiting Scholars
Thank you very much for your interest in the Center for Advanced Machine Mobility. We certainly appreciate it, and hope you find the CAMM web site informative. Please note that we receive many, many email requests and are not able to respond to all inquiries. If we don’t respond, please don’t take it the wrong way. Below is some general guidance with regard to research positions within the center.
Georgia Tech Undergraduate Students: Send Professor Costello an email note stating your areas of interest and the semester/s you would like to work on undergraduate research in the CAMM. Attach a current resume to your email note. Generally, undergraduate research assistants start working in the CAMM performing research for credit (AE 2699, AE 4699, ME 2699, ME 4699). For each credit of research, students should expect to work 3-4 hours. Undergraduate students who have worked several semesters in the CAMM may perform research for pay, provided funding is available within the CAMM. Each semester, 5-10 undergraduate research assistants work in the CAMM.
Georgia Tech Graduate Students (admitted or currently enrolled students): Send Professor Costello an email note stating your areas of interest and your degree goals. Attach a current resume to your email note.
External Undergraduate Students: Undergraduate research assistantships are not available to students outside Georgia Tech.
External Graduate Students: Submit a formal application to either the School of Aerospace Engineering or the School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. In your application, state your interest in working for Professor Costello and the CAMM. Please note that all graduate applications are first centrally processed by the respective schools before they are forwarded to individual faculty members. Applicants forwarded to the CAMM are evaluated each January and February for Fall admission. A limited number of graduate research assistantships are offered each year on a competitive basis.
Visiting Scholars: Send Professor Costello an email note stating your areas of interest and the time frame for visiting the CAMM. Attach a current resume to your email note. Please note that Visiting Scholars are expected to actively participate in research activities of CAMM and provide their own funding during their visit period. Each year a limited number of visiting scholars are invited to the CAMM.
